Hello Parents and Students of the HSHS Golden Hawks Band!

Mr. Biasi is travelling to Dayton, Ohio with the Gold Guard for WGI World Championships so I am doing a 'newsletter takeover'! 

Gold will perform in Prelims on Thursday, April 11th at 6:00pm. You can see the WGI schedule of events here. Good luck to the members, staff, and parents! We are all cheering you on from NC!

In other exciting news: all five of our winter ensembles placed FIRST in their respective divisions at AIA South Championships March 23rd & 24th! Congratulations to: Lil' Hawks, Junior Hawks, Purple Guard, Gold Guard, and Indoor Percussion. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance is admirable! You all are great representatives of the HSHS Band Program and we are so proud of each and every one of you!

Remember that Mean Girls: High School Version is coming up April 18-20, 2024. The band program has a number of musicians participating in the orchestra! You don't want to miss this! 

All State Band is Sunday, April 28th at UNC Greensboro. Congratulations to Luke Zeckmann, Alec Russell, and Carter Lindemuth for filling three seats and representing HSHS!

Last but not least, I want to say THANK YOU to Mr. Biasi, the Band Boosters, parents, families, students, instructors, and anyone else who helped along the way this year! It truly takes a village and it is not always easy, but we have a GREAT thing going with the HSHS Band Program and we couldn't do it without all of you!

Save The Date For The Following Upcoming Events

1. VIRTUAL Band Booster Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:00pm. This is required for ALL returning Band Program Families. We will present the 2024-25 budget and board/committee nominees, both of which will be voted on at the End of Year Banquet on May 31st. We will send a link closer to the date. 
2. 2024 GHR Kickoff and Registration on Wednesday, May 29th. More details to follow!

Summer Concert Concessions Fundraising

Interested in raising money for the band and want to get a head start on paying your fair share for next season? If so, volunteer at CCU Music Park at Walnut Creek. Work with other band parents and sell concessions to concert goers while getting to listen to live music. All you need to volunteer is black shorts or pants, comfortable shoes, and a little training. Please contact Craig at hshs_pncarena@yahoo.com for more information. Also, please check out the Sign Up Genius for concert dates and available slots.

Seniors will find the applications on our Band Website under - News, Links, FAQs - click the links section and scroll all the way down.

Please note, Seniors can apply for as many Scholarships as they'd like but they will only be eligible to win one Scholarship.

Please log in to CutTime and pay any outstanding balances. It is critical for payments to be received so that we can close the books at the end of the school year. If you have any questions, concerns, or need financial assistance, please contact the Treasurer at hshsbandtreasurer@gmail.com

IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Thank you to everyone who has completed the volunteer registration process! For those who haven't yet, here is the info:

Wake County has simplified the volunteer registration process this year. We encourage all parents to complete the registration process by visiting this link:



Once you create an account it will direct you to select the school(s) you would like to register for. You will then get an email with a link for the background check application. Once your application is processed you will receive a second email letting you know if you are approved. *PLEASE forward this email to ghrvolunteers@gmail.com so we can add you to our list of approved volunteers. We do not get notified if you don't forward the approval email.*

There are so many opportunities to participate throughout the school year from attending practices, helping with meals, planning events, assisting with uniforms/costumes, driving students, and chaperoning trips to name just a few. We hope you'll consider getting involved! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to ghrvolunteers@gmail.com
