How can I sign up to volunteer?

Volunteer Registration with WCPSS

For Band Camp we will need parent volunteers to assist with meals and snacks for each day of the Marching Band members’ band camp, as well as Band Parent Assistants during the day to help make sure that students who need assistance can easily get this. We will also need parent volunteers for the upcoming Band’s Uniform Fitting process.

There will be further detailed information in Sign-Up Genius program for these and all volunteer opportunities coming up including helping out with football games, competitions, and mini camps. So be on the lookout for those future needs. There will be several soon!

In order to volunteer you must go through: VOLUNTEER CLEARANCE

If you are doing any work with the concert bands, color guards, marching bands, or the winter groups it is essential that you register with the Wake County Public School System to get your clearance.

If you were already registered last year, you need to reactivate your registration and register again!

To register you can go to any Wake County Public school – just call the school you will use to confirm summer hours until classes start up again. Any questions please let us know!

Sign Up Genius

We use Sign Up Genius to let people know about upcoming volunteer events where help is needed. This sign up list is not the same one that is used for PNC work. It is for parades, football, dinners and other events.

If you wish to volunteer, you have to be added to the Sign Up Genius contact list. Please send a note to Michelle Stratford with the subject line “Please Add me to Sign Up Genius”.

Any parent or community member who wishes to volunteer at Holly Springs High School (or any WCPSS school) must follow WCPSS policies and procedures. Potential volunteers should contact Ms. Mattox,, in the front office to obtain volunteer information.

All volunteers must be cleared through Wake County’s volunteer registration. If you plan to participate in an activity that:

  • May require direct contact with students on or off campus with no or limited supervision
  • May require access to confidential information
  • Potentially involves solitary time with students
  • May take place outside the view of school staff for brief or extended periods
  • May involve driving students in a personal vehicle
  • May take place with supervision or in a public setting
  • May involve little or no student contact and no solitary time with students

Examples: overnight field trips, tutoring inside or outside the classroom, extended out-of-school activities, off-campus mentoring, field trip chaperone, dance chaperone, club sponsor, health room assistant, volunteer coach, clerical work for teacher, telephone volunteer, media center volunteer, beautification volunteer, classroom assistant, field day volunteer, test proctor, front office helper, room parent

How to register:
You must register on the campus of any Wake County Public School System School. The registration is located on the school’s intranet. If you plan to register at Holly Springs High School, you use the computer located in the main office.

The volunteer system will be open daily from July 6, 2015 through October 30, 2015. From November 2, 2015 through April 29, 2016, the volunteer system will be open on Mondays only, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. However, during this time period, the volunteer system will be closed on the Mondays: December 21, 2015, December 28, 2015, and January 18, 2016.
